During National Nurse Anesthetist Week, we thought it was really important to highlight a few of our peers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. We consider these folks our Super Heroes. They are “uniting and protecting” our communities, our profession, our patients, our organization. If you know of someone who fits this bill, please email our PR firm at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. central time.
To kick things off, we’re excited to bring you an update from Ian regarding his mission trip to the Philippines. You can read his original message here.
I arrived in the Philippines mid-December and devoted most of my time with my family and volunteered with the Philippine Red Cross. The donations I gathered from my online fundraising activity had been spent on medical supplies, medicines, clothes, and food.
The Red Cross local chapter has designated me to supervise the health station and pharmacy. I had the chance to work with Red Cross volunteers from around the world. Also, I have been in charge to organize and coordinate the weekly medical missions. I am so glad I was able to recruit my friends who are physicians and nurses, to volunteer their spare time amid their hectic work schedule. Our medical missions had great outcomes, serving the most needy people in Tacloban City and nearby municipalities.
I am extremely thankful for all the help Tacloban City receive from people around the world. I wish I could do more and spend time with them. I plan to serve my fellows in Tacloban after I graduate my nurse anesthesia program. I’d also like to express my sincere gratitude for being able to meet supportive people in the CRNA community.
I am in Manila today . My flight back to Jackson, TN will be on Wednesday. Thank you again for your support!
